Bathroom Makeover

We finally redid the bathroom! This is really exciting for me because the bathroom was the only room in our apartment which I did not like at all. Not even a little. It's tiny and there's no natural light, but what really bothered me was the poopie brown walls, the holes in the poopie brown walls, the spackle that was smeared all over the holes in the poopie brown walls, and the fake blood that was dripping from the spacklie holes on the poopie brown walls. I really wish I took a picture of how awful it looked, but Chris got to the walls with a paintbrush before I got to them with a camera. It's probably for the better though.

Here's the only documentation of the old color, it was darker than it appears though.

The fixtures before we spray painted them a deep brown, they were covered in weird cream paint.

One coat didn't cover as well as I thought it would. Oh well.
And here it is, all finished! I'm really happy with how it all turned out. I'm also really relieved it's DONE.

These are our fishies: Mario (the goldie), Luigi (the whitie), Koopa (the snail), and Yoshi (the Chinese algae eater.)
Now that the 4th of July is over, I will be posting more frequently. Last week was a complete blur of getting ready for the 4th of July party, scrubbing the apartment, painting dead trees, and overindulging in sun and beer.

Happy (day after) Fathers Day!

I hope everyone had a great Father's Day. I did, because I'm a big fan of my dad. He's one of the best ones around, and I never forget how lucky I am to have a dad like him.

I drew up a little Harley Davidson Road King for him, since he has one, and like things like Harleys (and eagles and blues and other "all-american" delights.) Pencil drawings are not something I do too often, mainly because I'm a color-fanatic... but motorcycles are complex, detailed little creatures and I knew it would difficult enough to get all the little parts correct without worrying about the colors of each little detail.

I also made chocolate chocolate chip cupcakes with cookie dough filling and chocolate buttercream icing. The cupcakes were from "vegan cupcakes take over the world" (AMAZING BOOK), the buttercream was just me winging it and mixing together some butter, sugar, and melted chocolate, and the cookie dough was from the Pillsbury Dough Boy. (Don't worry, it wasn't Tollhouse.)
Today I did a lot of house-work, errand type of stuff. Sam's club, post office, bank, laundry, (minimal) cleaning, bringing a new fish (Chinese algae eater named Yoshi) home, a yummy snack-like dinner, a viewing of Twilight, and then Jon and Kate Plus 8-which was depressing. I didn't do anything creative today, but I have a bunch of ideas for the rest of the week, and it is really nice to know I got a bunch of stuff done and out of the way.

Day 1

I created this blog because I realized that my first attempt at a blog wasn't going to work out. It just had a ridiculous name and after 6 months of me ignoring it I decided that I just needed to let it go and start a fresh one. So hi! Welcome to my new blog with a name that makes sense.

I'm going to try and update everyday, but I am not going to make any rule for myself about it, because then I just won't ever update it at all. Basically, I'll post whatever work I do or things I made that day, regardless of whether or not I like it or think that other people will. That's going to be the hard part, posting unfinished work or things that I think are terrible... but flaws make life more interesting, and sometimes showing progress is really important.

Also, I'm a very big fan of run-on sentences.
